First-year

The admission process at Fairfield University is holistic. We offer Early Action (November 1), Early Decision I (November 15) & Regular Decision and Early Decision II (January 15) as various application plans. If you are applying as a first year student, your application and the following supporting credentials must be submitted by the deadline:

  • Completed Common Application
  • Official secondary school transcript
  • Secondary school report form & recommendation
  • Common Application Essay
  • $60 application fee or official fee waiver
  • SAT or ACT results (If you choose to submit them).  Refer to our Standardized Test Optional Policy for more details.
  • A TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), IELTS or DUOLINGO exam result is required if English is not your native language, and you have resided in the U.S. for fewer than three years
  • Interview (optional)
  • Additional information is available for international students

Transfer

We welcome transfer students for the fall semester, and encourage students to apply by the priority application deadline of April 1. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis once complete. The following are needed to complete the transfer application:

  • Common Application for Transfer Students
  • Application Fee 
  • Official high school transcript with final grades
  • Official college transcript from all universities attended (whether or not credit was earned)
  • SAT or ACT results (If you choose to submit them). Refer to our Standardized Test Optional Policy for more details.
  • College Report
  • Course catalog descriptions of all classes taken (Sent via e-mail to transferadmis@fairfield.edu)

Additional Information

Fairfield University offers 52 majors and 28 interdisciplinary minors. Students work closely with their faculty in the classroom with a 12:1 student to faculty ratio and an average class size of 20 students. With a robust faculty of nearly 600 full-and part-time professors, over 92% of which have the highest degrees in their fields - Fairfield students are introduced to world of knowledge that span a multitude of disciplines. Opportunities for student research abounds across the different academic fields and our signature Magis Core Curriculum supports Fairfield's mission of educating the whole person and offering ongoing opportunities for transformation.
