Founded in 1866, the American University of Beirut is a private, independent, co-ed, and non-sectarian university in Beirut, Lebanon. AUB’s lush green campus overlooks the Mediterranean Sea and is situated in a cosmopolitan, urban neighborhood. Based on the American liberal arts model of higher education, AUB has more than 140 programs leading to bachelor’s, master’s, PhD, and MD degrees, with over 9,000 students and 900 faculty members. It is a teaching-centered research university with high academic standards and a vibrant campus life. The language of instruction is English. AUB is ranked among the top 250 universities in the world.

Come join the AUB family! First year applicants can apply either as freshman or sophomore, depending on the degree they hold. In general, those with a high school diploma should apply as freshman, while those with certain baccalaureates and other types of degrees can apply as sophomore.
