Additional Information

Colgate University, now in its third century, is a distinctive and strong undergraduate liberal arts institution of national reach and reputation. By making a Colgate education more accessible, we can increase the academic quality of our entering classes and enroll students who have a strong affinity for the University. The Colgate Commitment marks a milestone in the University’s progress to make a Colgate education affordable to as many talented, high-achieving students as possible, regardless of their socioeconomic background. For eligible domestic students, this comprehensive financial aid initiative will: eliminate the cost of tuition, significantly reduce average student debt, and reduce the net cost of tuition based on the family income level. To learn more about our need-based financial aid, please visit colgate.edu/admission-aid/financial-aid

Colgate is also committed to fostering an inclusive application experience for all students. Students can apply for admission under an ACT and SAT test-optional policy through 2026. For each applicant, Colgate conducts a holistic review process that appreciates the value of all pieces of information included in an application. When students choose to submit standardized test scores this information provides additional information to aid the holistic review. When students choose not to submit standardized test scores, the Office of Admission evaluates the applicant through the components of the application. This includes the high school transcript, essays, extra-curricular involvement, and recommendations. Students will be at no disadvantage if they choose not to submit the optional materials. Please visit colgate.edu/apply for more information.
