We are delighted that you are considering studying for your B.A. degree in liberal Arts here at The Institute for the Liberal Arts (ILA) at Doshisha University in Kyoto,Japan.
Studying in a small, close-knit Institute with a large, established University (founded in 1875, 29.000 students) offers the advantages of both setting. Students benefit from seminar-style classes, but still have access to a diversity of academic disciplines across the University as a whole. Students gain in-depth local knowledge about Kyoto and the Kansai region, and at the same time, master frameworks and methods that can be applied to the understanding of regional and global social, political and economic processes. The ILA hopes that academic and social skills acquired within this broad education will enable students to make significant contributions to their local communities, countries of residence, and global society.
