University of Missouri

University of Missouri

Known to most simply as “Mizzou,” the University of Missouri was founded in 1839 as the first public university west of the Mississippi River. We are Missouri’s flagship, a land-grant institution and a member of the AAU. With 300-plus degree programs, we have your major. And we are one of only six public universities nationwide that can claim a medical school, veterinary medicine college and a law school on the same campus.

You belong here.

College is a big investment and your Mizzou degree comes with even bigger rewards. We were named a “Best Buy” by the Fiske Guide to Colleges 2018 and four out of five students receive some type of financial aid.

Your Mizzou education won’t end in the classroom. Gain real-world experience in your field of study by immersing yourself in undergraduate research. Reporting a breaking news story from our NBC-affiliate television station. Teaching four-year-olds how to read. Or providing care to real-life patients. Choose any one (or more!) of our 300-plus degree programs in 18 schools and colleges and you’ll have an opportunity to learn by doing.

Become your best self at Mizzou. Within our campus family lives a deep and vibrant community with storied traditions. Including one of the nation’s most spirited (and first) Homecoming celebrations, organized by students every fall since 1911. And after graduation, our 300,000 living alumni are ready and waiting to help you connect across the globe.

A certified botanic garden, our 1,262-acre flagship campus in downtown Columbia is renowned for its classic architectural beauty. At its heart lies Francis Quadrangle, home to our six famous Columns and recently named among Business Insider’s “Most Beautiful and Iconic American College Quads.”

Experience it all firsthand when you visit campus. We are the “Show-Me State,” after all. And we think you’ll like what you see.
