Financial Aid Information Available Within Common App

Asked about their view on admission and financial aid, one student said “it is confusing to think about the money part. No one really gives you very clear instructions on what you need to do or how to find out about grant and other financial opportunities.” Another shared, “I find applying for financial aid to be very confusing. It is almost like they have the money to help you but they make it so hard to get it.”

Learning about financial aid just got simpler.

A tab within the application lets students access financial aid and scholarship opportunities while completing their Common App.

Last year, over 58% of students who used the Common App indicated an intent to apply for need-based aid. We know that students are thinking about financial aid while engaged in the college application process. By meeting students where they are, we hope to make the financial aid process less daunting for both students and parents.

In the Financial Aid Resources tab, students can find:

* Sources of aid, including federal and state resources, as well as aid directly from colleges and universities;

* Advice on planning for college costs, with resources such as the Net Price Calculator provided by the U.S. Department of Education;

* Direct links to the Department of Education's Federal Student Aid website and FAFSA;

* A means to explore scholarship opportunities through an integration with Scholar Snapp;

* Resources with which to compare financial aid offers.

Students can log in to their Common App account to access the Financial Aid Resources tab, or visit the How to Pay for College page to learn more about the financial aid and scholarship opportunities.
