Earlham College is a selective, nationally-ranked liberal arts college with a mission for good. We’re consistently placed on the Princeton Review’s list of colleges with the best classroom experience, thanks to our dedication to an academic environment that is both challenging and supportive, global connections, and community values that uphold diversity and respect for persons.

Earlham students are catalysts for good in a changing world. They thrive beyond the classroom, making Earlham one of only 40 Colleges That Change Lives (CTCL.org), a testament to the Earlham community and the transformative opportunities available. How do we ensure these transformative experiences for all students at Earlham, not just a few? For starters, Earlham offers one of the rarest and most valuable guarantees in higher education. We call it the Earlham advantage: Every student has the opportunity to pursue a funded, career-building internship or research experience before graduation.

Earlham's admission process takes many factors into consideration when evaluating applicants with the ultimate goal of finding students who have the potential to be successful academically and who will be positive members of our community. First year applicants have completed at least 15 academic high school units or the equivalent and have not been enrolled as full time, degree-seeking students at another college or university. See more details about applying at earlham.edu/admissions/how-to-apply/.

We welcome applications from students who have successfully completed courses while enrolled at another postsecondary institution, but have not yet earned a four-year degree. A transfer candidate should be in good standing at their current or most recent college or university. Transfer students must spend a minimum of four semesters at Earlham in order to receive an Earlham degree. See more details about applying at earlham.edu/admissions/how-to-apply/.

Additional Information

At Earlham, we recognize that cost is a key factor for many families. Earlham's financial aid packages are supported by the College's healthy endowment and alumni and friends who believe in the value of an Earlham education. Merit-based aid is determined at the time of admission. Need-based financial aid requires the completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Our school code is 001793.

The world demands courage, creativity and fresh ways forward. At Earlham, you’ll chart your own 4-year journey through the liberal arts, integrating your academic major with transformative learning experiences like research, off-campus study, internships and leadership development—so you can pursue your personal and professional goals for good. The results of this approach have made Earlham a national leader in student achievement, with recent students earning Fulbright, Watson, Rhodes and National Science Foundation scholarships. Earlham is also one of the leading liberal arts colleges in the U.S. for percentage of graduates who go on to earn doctorate degrees thanks to the personal support and mentoring our student receive.

At Earlham, we believe there should be a connection between life inside and out of the classroom. Our approach is rooted in shared values based in Earlham’s Quaker heritage: We strive to create community, embrace simplicity, act with integrity, seek peace and treat one another with respect. It’s a commitment we make to each other, and it helps make Earlham an especially welcoming place for us to work together and find our paths to the future. Learn more>>
