Application information

Find out about requirements, fees, and deadlines

Yale-NUS College uses a holistic review process when assessing applications in order to seek students that present the right fit for the fully residential four-year experience in Singapore. We recognise national and international curricula systems from around the world, and do not offer academic credit waivers when students matriculate into Yale-NUS College. All applicants physically schooled outside of Singapore are must submit either the SAT or ACT unless testing is unavailable in your schooling country. IELTS and TOEFL results are recommended if the language of instruction is not English.

Students intending to transfer from their home institutions to Yale-NUS College are welcome to apply, and their applications will be treated as first year applications. Due to the nature of our Common Curriculum, the College does not recognise academic accrued before matriculating at Yale-NUS College. All students admitted to Yale-NUS will enter as first-year students without any credit or advanced standing from a previous institution.

Additional Information

At Yale-NUS College, every application is automatically considered for a merit scholarship, and there is no separate application process or additional materials needed. All candidates are evaluated in a holistic manner before a committee decides which applicants will be awarded a scholarship. Scholarships awarded by Yale-NUS College are tenable for all four years of undergraduate education, are bond free, and offered at the point of admission. Merit scholarships from the College are not awarded to students after matriculation.

Need-based financial aid is available to all qualified students at Yale-NUS, regardless of nationality. Unlike scholarships which are evaluated based on merit, Study Awards are evaluated based on need, and typically look at annual household income, and the number of family members living with the student. Students must apply for a Study Award every year in order for the College to ensure that we meet any changing financial circumstances of the student. We practice need-blind admissions, and a student’s financial need does not affect their admissions outcome. Any student, regardless of nationality, can qualify for a scholarship or Study Award.

Singapore Permanent Residents and international students may also qualify for the Tuition Grant (TG) Scheme, which is a bonded subsidy if they choose to take the grant from the Government of Singapore. Any Yale-NUS student can draw on multiple funds simultaneously (e.g. receive a scholarship, Study Award, and take the TG) in affording the total cost of an education at Yale-NUS.
