The Common Application Celebrates National School Counseling Week

The Common Application commends and thanks school counselors everywhere for being trusted partners in the admissions process and for working to advance access to higher education. 

“The long-standing collaboration between The Common Application and school counselors is invaluable and instrumental to ensuring that every student realizes his or her opportunity to earn a college degree. Hearing from a wide range of diverse perspectives of the counselors on our board, our Outreach Advisory Committee, and in small group conversations is critical to our work,” said The Common Application CEO Paul Mott.

Each year, more than a million high school students, teachers, and counselors use the Common Application to submit college applications and supporting documents. So far through the Common App's 2015-2016 application cycle, counselors and recommenders have submitted over 16 million forms on behalf of their students. 

We recognize that for many counselors, time is precious. There are several powerful, adaptable advising resources available, to be used by counselors in a way that meets their needs, on their timeline, in a manner that makes sense for their school communities:

* Common App accounts created in 2015-2016 will now roll over to 2016-2017. This means juniors can start learning about and exploring the Common App right away -- or at whatever time is best for their individual needs.

Common App Ready, a series of ready-to-present slide decks with accompanying scripts covering every aspect of the application -- from account registration through submission --  will help counselors introduce their students to the application process now, or whenever they are ready.

Common App onTrack is another key resource to help students manage the college application process. Students can download this free app from their iOS device to view their list of colleges, add and explore new colleges, and stay on top of their application deadlines.
