The University of Chicago offers year-round information sessions and campus tours—as well as group tour sessions and virtual tours—of its 217-acre campus in close proximity to downtown Chicago. Enrolled undergraduate students at UChicago take courses within the Core curriculum, a multidisciplinary introduction to tools of inquiry and critical thinking that are adaptable to all of the College’s 100-plus majors, minors, and areas of study. Undergraduate students are required to live on-campus as first-years, and are housed in one of seven residence halls that comprise the University’s 38 Houses. Houses are groups of about 70 students who form tight-knit communities —whether on excursions into downtown Chicago or through activities like cultural events and intramural sports. Houses share common areas and clusters of individual rooms, and each house has its own traditions, House Council, and resident staff. UChicago undergraduate students are guaranteed housing for all four years of study.
