The University of Maine at Machias (UMM), regional campus of the University of Maine, founded in 1909, has a rich history of serving the community and preparing students for future success. UMM offers baccalaureate, associate and certificate programs in the areas of professional studies, arts and letters, and environmental and biological sciences. With a student to faculty ratio of one faculty member for every 11 students and an average class size of fewer than 20 students, we take pride in fostering a strong sense of community and connection that begins inside the classroom and extends beyond the boundaries of campus. UMM offers year-round campus tours in addition to open house events in the spring and fall. Campus visits often include a field trip to the Downeast Institute, UMM's Marine Science Field Station and the easternmost marine research facility in the U.S., located on the pristine coast of Beals, Maine.
