Common App Launches First Ever Transfer Requirements Grid

When it comes to navigating the transfer process, one of the biggest obstacles facing applicants is understanding and tracking what's required of them from each institution to which they're applying. Who needs official transcripts? Who requires a personal statement? How many recommendations are allowed?

Today, we're excited to launch a new resource that makes it easier for transfer applicants, and those advising them, to understand these requirements. Our Transfer Requirements Grid will enable applicants better understand the deadlines, fees, and specific application requirements for the more than 600 colleges and universities accepting the Common App for transfer application.

The First Year Requirements Grid has been a resource on the first-year side that students and counselors have come to rely on, and we hope this comparable resource dedicated specifically to the transfer application becomes an equally valuable tool. Thank you to the students, counselors, advisors, and member colleges who encouraged the creation of this resource so that we can improve how we serve the transfer community.

The Transfer Requirements Grid is one of the many resources that the Common App is continuing to build out for transfer applicants. For additional resources:

  1. Visit the Common App website with updated transfer content
  2. Explore our member colleges accepting the transfer app
  3. Contact the Transfer Help Center 24/7 when you need help, including FAQs, email and live chat support
  4. View our YouTube video tutorials covering every aspect of the transfer application from creation to submission

We are always looking to enhance the Common App’s service for transfer students and advisors. If you have questions or suggestions for future tools and resources, please reach out to our Associate Director for Outreach and Education, Meredith Lombardi at mlombardi@commonapp.org.
