Application information

Find out about requirements, fees, and deadlines

First-year

First-year students not transferring from another institution have three options for their application timeline:
1). Early Decision—apply by Nov. 1, deposit by Dec. 15
2). Early Action—apply by Nov. 1, deposit by May 1
3). Regular Decision—apply by April 1, deposit by May 1

The Early Decision application is a binding commitment meant for students who are sure to enroll if accepted. Early Action also is a good option for students who want to receive their financial aid packages and other communications from the college sooner, which can help with college selection and planning.

Transfer

Students interested in transferring to Augustana use the same application and process as high school seniors, except without the option of applying Early Decision. Transfer students may apply as
1.) Early Action applicants (apply by Nov. 1, deposit by May 1)
2.) Regular Decision (apply by April 1, deposit by May 1)

Transfer students must have completed at least one semester of college-level coursework. Admission is based on overall academic strength, with a preferred minimum transferable GPA of 2.50.

Additional Information

Augustana offers more than 90 majors and related programs in the sciences, humanities and fine arts, and pre-professional fields from engineering to law to medicine. Newest majors include public health, data analytics and kinesiology, plus a new minor in geographic information science and technology (GIS). Special academic programs include an honors program; a first-year sequence that develops communication skills; and Augie Choice, providing each student $2,000 to support research with a professor, an internship or study abroad. 99% of students receive financial aid. Merit awards include the $29,000 Presidential Scholarship, $27,000 Deans Scholarship, $25,000 Founders Scholarship and many fine arts and endowed scholarships. The college culture is known for a balance of academics with other interests—demonstrated by our number of Academic All-Americans: currently #1 in Illinois, #6 in Division III and #12 in the nation for student-athletes who excel in their sport and their studies. Another distinction is the level of mentoring relationships and advising. For example, at CORE (Careers, Opportunities, Research, Exploration), students find step-by-step advising related to career and graduate school preparation, volunteering, internships, international study, research and vocation. Students also benefit from resources supporting co-curricular involvement on a residential campus, with living-learning communities to ensure they build life skills as they transition from campus to off-campus housing. Augustana’s location in the Quad Cities metro area provides access to many career-path and hands-on learning opportunities, including internships, jobs, student teaching and research sites.
