A first year applicant is any student who has not yet completed, but will be soon completing a high school, home-school or GED program. It could also include students that have graduated, but have not begun any college coursework. Applicants who are enrolled in running start or early college programs should apply as a first year applicant, even though you may receive advanced class standing after enrolling.
A transfer applicant is a student who has completed their secondary education and has taken courses in a college or university. Even if you have not yet earned many college credits, you still must apply as a transfer student and submit transcripts from all colleges/universities you have attended.
