First-year

If you’re a senior in high school or a high-school graduate who has not completed any college coursework, apply to Canisius as a first-year student (freshman). We use a holistic application review process, which means we’ll consider everything – your unique characteristics, academic achievements, special talents, hobbies, interests and community involvement. By understanding who you are as a whole person, we’ll gain a better sense of what you can contribute as a Griff.

Transfer

Canisius is proud to be a transfer-inclusive campus. If you have previous college credits from a two-year college or another four-year institution, we invite you to apply as a transfer student. We’re also proud to participate in the Yellow Ribbon Program, which includes tuition benefits for U.S. military veterans. When it comes to a college education, it’s not about where you start – it’s about how you finish. Come to Canisius, and let us help you finish strong.

Additional Information

Visit us

We invite you to experience Canisius for yourself. In-person opportunities include individualized campus tours, preview days and even specialized visits for accepted students. Can’t make it to campus? We also offer virtual tours, webinars and meetings with current students, faculty and financial-aid staff. Check out our Visit and Events page for more information and to register for the opportunity that works best for you.

“Being a Griff is so much more than being a college student. Canisius is a community. We all succeed when lifting others up and helping our peers grow.”
