Application information

Find out about requirements, fees, and deadlines

First-year

Centre College enrolls students who have completed strong college preparatory high school programs and have achieved good academic records in their course work. Students who have supplemented their high school curriculum with college coursework should pursue first-year student admission, not transfer admission. We use the Common Application exclusively, we are test optional, and there is no fee to apply. Applications are considered in three submission rounds: early decision, early action, and regular decision.

Transfer

We welcome applications from qualified students who have enrolled at two-year or other four-year colleges and universities following completion of high school. A student pursues transfer admission if they were enrolled past the deadline for dropping classes at their previous institution. Any transfer student should be in good academic and social standing at their previous institution and be eligible for return. Transfer students must complete all of the College’s requirements for graduation. They must also complete at least 54 credit hours at Centre, including 23 of the last 30.

Additional Information

Centre College is ranked among the best values in higher education. We are committed to making Centre affordable for students from all socioeconomic backgrounds. Our generous financial aid program includes a variety of merit scholarships, need-based grants, and other assistance. All students are encouraged to apply for need-based financial aid by filing the FAFSA and Centre Aid Form. All admitted students are considered for merit scholarships regardless of financial need.

General merit scholarship consideration is automatic (no separate application required) and is based on a comprehensive review of your credentials and contributions.

Special and Premier Scholarships require a separate application. Descriptions and deadlines can be found at www.centre.edu/scholarships.

Special Scholarships are available for specialty areas including language, music, performing arts, and visual arts. We also offer scholarships for students who demonstrate leadership on issues of diversity and inclusion and community service.

Centre’s two most competitive scholarship programs, the Lincoln Scholars (world changers) and Grissom Scholars (first-generation college students), each recognize 10 incoming students annually with full tuition, fees, room, and board coverage.

Visit us

See for yourself that our reputation for the personal touch is true. A visit includes a tour of campus and an information session. Seniors have the option to customize a more personalized visit; sit in on classes, meet with a professor or coach, or have an interview with an admission counselor. Also, consider spending the night in one of our residence halls. Because we make all efforts to customize your visit, a campus visit should be scheduled at least 7 days in advance. In addition to our regular campus visits, we offer several special on-campus open houses throughout the year.

“The creativity and flexibility and encouragement Centre gives you to craft your experience – it’s indescribable. It can be as fantastic as you want it to be.”
