Dickinson was the first college chartered after the United States became a country in 1783, and we've been providing our students with a revolutionary education ever since. That's 234 years of pioneering in fields like international studies, foreign languages, security studies and neuroscience. And Dickinsonians are not just pioneering in the classroom-they're exporting their useful, liberal-arts experiences for internships, externships, student-faculty research and fieldwork. They engage the world as graduates, committed to being leaders and finding innovative ways to serve the common good.

Additional Information

A Dickinson education is useful in the ways that matter most. Our students leave Dickinson with an education that translates into a competitive edge and a mandate to lead and make a difference. In fact, 95 percent of graduates are in a job, graduate school or meaningful service experience within one year of graduation. In the class of 2019, 95% of those who applied were admitted to medical school and 94% to law school. Dickinson is also a top Fulbright and Peace Corps producer.

Visit us

Our campus is historic, cutting edge and truly beautiful, and we encourage students to visit to see all of these things firsthand. But also, we want you to visit to meet the people who make up the Dickinson community. You will find the Dickinson community to be warm and welcoming, full of bright, excited students who work together and with their faculty collaboratively. Come and see for yourself!

"One thing that I owe to Dickinson is what I would call a 'leader' mentality-as Dickinsonians, we want to positively influence the world through actively thinking, learning and doing, rather than following what is handed down to us. We are not afraid of change and the unknown but rather cherish it."
