Application information

Find out about requirements, fees, and deadlines

A first-year-in-college student has earned a standard high school diploma (or equivalent) from a regionally accredited high school, and has earned fewer than twelve semester hours of transferable college credit since receiving a high school diploma. The application review is a holistic and selective process, and no single criterion guarantees admission. We consider all submitted documentation, and carefully review academic records and test scores to ensure you are prepared for the rigorous curriculum at Florida State University.

Additional Information

The prestigious Benacquisto Scholarship is available to National Merit Finalists that are graduating with a standard high school diploma. This award equals the institutional cost of attendance minus the sum of Bright Futures (for Florida residents) and the National Merit scholarship. For non-Florida residents, an out-of-state waiver is included in the award. The total value of this scholarship is over $80,000 over four years and guarantees admission into the University Honors Program. Detailed information about this scholarship can be found here.

In addition, all admitted students are automatically considered for one of our merit-based scholarships (University Freshman or Out-of-State Tuition Waiver). Students admitted in January will have priority consideration for our admissions scholarships. For more information, visit admissions/fsu.edu/freshman/finances.
