Named one of the most innovative colleges in the country by U.S. News & World Report, Goucher College empowers you to be your own academic entrepreneur. Our classes are deep-dive explorations that spark passions. A highlight of the unique curriculum is that all undergraduates study abroad at least once; the college is the nation’s first to make such a bold move in globalized education. Goucher’s academic philosophy is focused on the 3Rs: relationships, resilience, and reflection, and we are proud to be one of 40 “Colleges That Change Lives.” Goucher will prepare you for the jobs of the future.

First-year

Our admissions process is highly individualized. We look at you as a whole student. We look not just at your previous academic achievement, but also at your personal qualities and intellectual promise—qualifications that may not be reflected in standardized test scores, which are optional in Goucher’s admissions process. We have two forms you can choose from: the Common Application or the Goucher Video Application. We created the Goucher Video App to provide another opportunity for students to show us what makes them unique, and why they would flourish at Goucher. There is no application fee.

Transfer

Transfer students must submit the Common Application as well as an essay, an official college transcript(s) from all colleges attended, an official high school transcript (if fewer than 30 attempted credits), and a recommendation letter. The Goucher Video Application is not available to transfer students. There is no application fee. Transfer scholarships are available.

Additional Information

Go off and become who you’re meant to be. We believe in a global perspective, which is why we’re 100% study abroad—it will provide you with the chance to make a valuable connection between the classroom and real world experience. Our 10:1 student-faculty ratio means you’ll have many opportunities to meet your professors one-on-one and they’ll know you by name. Plus, we offer hands-on research opportunities with our distinguished faculty members. At Goucher, we want students to live the SWEET life. Our holistic approach to students’ well-being focuses on SWEET: sleep, water, exercise, eating healthy, and time management. The majority of our students pay less than the listed cost of attendance; in fact, 97% of Goucher students received financial aid in 2018-19. The average undergraduate financial aid award is $37,599. We offer a range of scholarships, including merit-based and transfer scholarships. Ultimately, you are in control of what you go off and do.

Visit us

When you’re trying to make up your mind about college, you’ll want to tour the campus, sit in on a class, and meet the students, faculty, and community members who will make it feel like home. A visit to our campus will help you learn what life is all about at Goucher. We typically offer information sessions and student-led campus tours on weekdays throughout the year, as well as on selected Saturdays and Sundays during the academic year.

I'm in a place where I'm doing exactly what I had hoped. My classes are my passion, and I love my professors, so every day I want to work for it. Goucher is my home.
