Ohio Northern University operates on a rolling admission for all first year programs except Pharmacy. In addition to the application, please have your high school counselor submit a high school transcript and official ACT or SAT scores (unless you are applying test-optional). An interview is also required for Pharmacy admission. For priority scholarship consideration, you are encouraged to apply by Dec. 1, 2022. You should apply as a first year student if you have not graduated from high school at the time of application. This includes students that have completed or are enrolled in dual enrollment/College Credit Plus coursework while still in high school.


Ohio Northern University accepts transfer students for spring (January start) or fall (August start) semester. In addition to the transfer application, submit your official high school transcript and official transcripts from all current or previous colleges/universities. To be considered official, transcripts must be sent directly by the high school and all colleges previously attended directly to ONU to or to the following address.

At ONU, you should apply as a transfer student if you have completed a high school degree and have completed credits (or are currently enrolled) at another college/university after receiving your high school degree.

Additional Information

Ohio Northern offers academic scholarships to accepted students with or without test scores submitted.  Students are notified of their academic scholarship upon acceptance. Test scores are "superscored" for scholarship purposes. Full financial aid awards will begin to be sent in early December to accepted students that have submitted the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).

Applicants to Ohio Northern University are encouraged to schedule and complete a campus visit at Your campus visit will include a campus tour with a current ONU student, time with an admissions counselor, and an individual appointment with a faculty member in your chosen area of study. Campus visits are offered during the week and on Saturday mornings. Students offered admission for Fall 2023 are invited to attend Orange and Black Accepted Student Days held in February and March. This is a special visit program designed to assist you in making your final decision.
