Founded in 1818, Saint Louis University is one of the nation’s oldest and most prestigious Catholic institutions. Rooted in Jesuit values and its pioneering history as the first university west of the Mississippi River, SLU offers more than 12,000 students a rigorous, transformative education of the whole person. At the core of the University’s diverse community of scholars is SLU’s service-focused mission, which challenges and prepares students to make the world a better, more just place.

First-year

We offer nearly 90 undergraduate majors across 10 colleges and schools, both on our St. Louis, Missouri and Madrid, Spain campuses. Putting their best value education to work, our graduates start nonprofits, discover new vaccines and teach in under-resourced schools. They become business leaders at the biggest companies and servants to those in need. Solid academic performance in college preparatory coursework is a primary consideration when we review your freshman application. To be considered for admission, you must be graduating from high school, have an acceptable HiSET exam score or take the General Education Development (GED) test. Standardized test scores are optional. SLU offers four application paths for all first-time freshmen. For application deadline information please visit https://www.slu.edu/admission/freshman/deadlines.php.

Transfer

SLU offers rolling admission for transfer students and does not have application deadlines for most programs. Transfer majors with deadlines are accelerated BSN, occupational therapy and communication sciences and disorders (leveling option). Submit official copies of transcripts from every college or university where you’ve attempted credit. This includes original transcripts for college-level coursework you completed during high school, even if those courses also appear as transferred-in credit on a later transcript. If you have fewer than 24 credit hours at the time you apply for admission, you must submit an official high school transcript with graduation date and test scores.

Additional Information

The value of a Saint Louis University education is measured not in the facts you will retain but the person you will become. It’s our goal to remove financial barriers that may stand in the way. Admission to SLU is based on achievement, ambition and personal potential – not on your financial resources or ability to pay. We offer a wealth of scholarships ranging from $3,000 to full tuition and financial aid programs to recognize academic performance and ensure no student who belongs here will be kept away by cost. We encourage students to file the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to maximize their aid eligibility. For more information, click here.
