Application information

Find out about requirements, fees, and deadlines

First-year

To apply for admission complete the following:

  • The Common Application for Admission, including the essay or personal statement.
  • Pay the non-refundable $50 application fee (payable online by debit card, credit card or e-check)
  • Request that your official high school transcript from an accredited secondary school be sent directly to the Office of Admissions, Southern Connecticut State University. Digital submission is preferred.
  • An official high school equivalency certificate such as the GED may be submitted instead of the high school transcript.

Southern has a test optional admission policy. SAT or ACT scores are not required for admission. Letters of recommendation are not required.

 

Transfer

Southern Connecticut State University does have a Common Application for Transfer applicants. Please visit this site to apply for transfer admissions to SCSU: https://apply.southernct.edu/apply/

 

Additional Information

At Southern, we offer a comprehensive financial aid package that includes grants, loans, scholarships and part-time employment.  Funding is available from federal and state governments along with private sponsors and university resources.  All you need to do is file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  We are here to guide you along this process so please do not hesitate to contact us with any of your financial aid questions.

Special program deadlines:
  • Direct Nursing for First Year Students - Deadline is December 1, 2022
  • Honors College for First Year Students - Deadline is January 1, 2023
