First-year

A first-year student has either not yet graduated from high school or has graduated but not earned any college credits after completing high school. The University of Dayton has two deadlines for submitting your admission materials: Early action (non-binding): November 1 and Regular decision: February 1. You will automatically be considered for a merit scholarship — worth up to $121,000 over four years — when you apply for admission. We are committed to transparent affordability, and our innovative approach to tuition provides peace of mind when it comes to costs.

Transfer

A transfer student has completed high school and has earned college credit after finishing high school. Transfer application deadlines: Fall term: Early Action- February 1, Regular Decision- July1 Spring term: December 1 Summer term: April 15. All full-time transfer students receive a $15,000 transfer scholarship and may be eligible for an Academic Excellence Award, based on combined cumulative college GPA. Our transparent, fixed net tuition plan means the tuition you pay stays the same each year. That means there are no surprises, so you can be confident in our costs and plan for your success.

Additional Information

Experiential Learning
UD has been ranked in the top 15 “Best Schools for Internships” in the nation, and we provide experiential learning opportunities like research, service, internships and co-ops that prepare you for a meaningful career and life after graduation.

Community
In our diverse, inclusive learning community, we respect the dignity of each person and work together for the common good. That’s why 85% of students choose to live on campus or in our unique porch-clad student neighborhood all four years. And with more than 270 student clubs, including 35 focused on service and social justice, we make sure you have every opportunity to pursue your interests and talents or discover something new. Our Multi-Ethnic Education and Engagement Center (MEC) is a popular place on campus that provides a strong community and space for underrepresented students.

Outcomes
Last year, despite the difficulties of entering a job market during the pandemic, 93% of students found success within six months of graduation, and of those employed, 95% are employed full-time. We’re so committed to our students’ success that our graduation rate is 81%, compared to an average 68% for private universities and 62% for public universities.

Transparent Tuition Plan
We are committed to transparent affordability because we value your family’s peace of mind above any bottom line. We offer:
  • A four-year overview of your costs for first-year students and a three-year overview for transfer students.
  • No net tuition increases.
  • No fees.
  • A textbook scholarship.
  • Automatic merit scholarship consideration for up to $121,000 over four years for first-year students.
  • A transfer scholarship and Academic Excellence Awards for full-time transfer students.
