First-year

Admission to the University of Maine is a highly competitive and selective process. Successful applicants hold high scholastic achievement, intellectual curiosity, and extracurricular involvement that promise success at the University of Maine. The holistic selection process looks at the strength of the high school curriculum, grades received, grade point average, and counselor recommendation for admission consideration. Additional information such as essays and community involvement may help the admissions committee evaluate student applications. UMaine recognizes advanced work completed in secondary schools in Advanced Placement tests, honors, or higher education courses. Students who pass examinations may be exempt from certain courses at UMaine.

Transfer

Admission to the University of Maine is a highly competitive and selective process. The holistic selection process looks at the strength of the high school and college curriculum, grades received, and grade point average. We offer a variety of tours and events throughout the year for you to experience our stunning campus, the state-of-the-art facilities and student life. Campus Tours begin and end at the Heritage House. The program generally lasts 90 minutes and includes stops at the student recreation center, a sample residence hall room, a classroom, the library and student union.
