First-year

UMass Lowell is in the Massachusetts technology corridor, close to Boston, the mountains and the coast. Our campus is part of the culturally vibrant city of Lowell. With our blended approach to student learning and engagement beyond the classroom, our students go into the world ready to change it. If you are in your final year of high school or are a recent high school graduate and haven’t enrolled at another institution, we consider you a first-year applicant. Visit uml.edu/apply to learn about the admissions process and to contact us.

Transfer

Just about half of our students at UMass Lowell come to us as transfers. Maybe you come to us with an associate’s degree, have credits earned during military experience or you've matriculated at another institution and are looking for the opportunities available at a public research university. Either way, we’re glad you’re thinking of transferring to UMass Lowell and we look forward to making the process as smooth as possible for you. Visit uml.edu/apply to learn about the admissions process, the transfer experience and to contact us.

Additional Information

Way back in 2015, UMass Lowell became the first public university in New England to offer a No Test Option for applicants. We also give applicants the chance to self report their SAT and ACT scores.
