The University of Minnesota Rochester (UMR) is a campus of the University of Minnesota system. UMR offers distinctive health sciences and biosciences education to prepare students for a broad spectrum of current and emerging careers, ranging from patient care to pure and applied research. The campus community serves approximately 950 undergraduate and graduate students in the heart of downtown Rochester. By continuing to meet the needs of the southern Minnesota region through its programmatic offerings, UMR proudly leads the way to a brighter future for our community, our state, and our world.
UMR does not have out of state tuition so all students will pay the in-state Minnesota rate. In addition, students are eligible for scholarships. The passion statement on the application is the scholarship question. Students will be reviewed by an academic scholarship committee that will invite the top candidates on campus to interview. The deadline for scholarship consideration is December 1st. Scholarships range from 1 year to 4 years and from $1,000 - $10,000 annually.
UMR offers individual visits where students and guests will meet with an admissions rep for a one-on-one overview of the university followed by a personal tour lead by a UMR student ambassador. The visit is approximately 2 hours long. We also host open houses called Discover Days throughout the year and in the Spring, we will host VIP Days for Admitted students.
