Application information

Find out about requirements, fees, and deadlines

First-year

To apply as a first-year student, you either have not yet graduated from high school (or the equivalent), or you have not taken any college courses since you graduated high school. If you are receiving college credit while attending high school, you are still considered a first-year student when applying. University of Portland will review your college credits to determine academic standing at a later date. We recommend applying by our priority deadline of November 15 for the following fall semester and highly encourage students to apply well in advance of our January 15 deadline. We will review late applications on a space-available basis. International students have a final deadline of June 1.

Transfer

To apply as a transfer student you must have received your high school diploma (or the equivalent) and have college credit from a community college or university since high school graduation. If you have not already graduated from a high school (or the equivalent), please apply with the first-year application. For transfer students, we recommend applying by December 1 for Spring admission (semester starts mid-January) and July 15 for Fall admission (semester starts the end of August).

Additional Information

University of Portland offers need-based aid and merit scholarships based on academic achievement for both first-year and transfer students. We also offer talent scholarships in Division 1 athletics, music, and theater. For details on talent scholarships, contact Pilot Athletics or the Department of Performing & Fine Arts. Learn more about scholarships and grants at https://www.up.edu/finaid/scholarships-and-grants/index.html

Visit us

We offer daily information sessions and campus tours Monday through Friday, select Saturday visits, Visitation Days, and other special events. You will find dates and times in the registration form available at https://www.up.edu/admissions/visit/index.html, which may vary depending on the time of year and the type of visit you choose. UP will personalize your visit based on whether you are a first-year or a transfer student. We recommend scheduling at least two weeks in advance.

We look forward to seeing you on campus!

I thrive in environments where I feel heard, known, and connected. UP’s smaller size allows me this experience and to form relationships with peers and professors. My favorite aspects of campus life are the community and the constant support it provides.
