To apply as a first-year student, you either have not yet graduated from high school (or the equivalent), or you have not taken any college courses since you graduated high school. If you are receiving college credit while attending high school, you are still considered a first-year student when applying. University of Portland will review your college credits to determine academic standing at a later date. We recommend applying by our Early Action (EA) deadline of December 1 for the following fall semester and highly encourage students to apply well in advance of our February 15 deadline. We will review late applications on a space-available basis. International students have a final deadline of June 1.
To apply as a transfer student you must have received your high school diploma (or the equivalent) and have college credit from a community college or university since high school graduation. If you have not already graduated from a high school (or the equivalent), please apply with the first-year application. For transfer students, we recommend applying by December 1 for Spring admission (the semester starts mid-January) and June 1 for Fall admission (the semester starts at the end of August).
I thrive in environments where I feel heard, known, and connected. UP’s smaller size allows me this experience and to form relationships with peers and professors. My favorite aspects of campus life are the community and the constant support it provides.
