In keeping with Macalester’s values of Internationalism and Multiculturalism, the college welcomes first-year applications from across the United States and around the world through Early Decision, Early Action, Regular Decision, and unique application programs like QuestBridge and Posse. Macalester Admissions uses a test-optional policy and there is no application fee. Students are considered international applicants if their citizenship is of a country other than the United States. Undocumented/DACA students, or students who identify as a refugee, displaced person, asylum seeker, or stateless person, are welcomed at Macalester. Learn more about applying at www.macalester.edu/apply.
Macalester offers fall semester transfer admission for students who have been enrolled at another college or university as a full-time, degree-seeking student. Students who have completed Post-Secondary Enrollment Options or equivalent programs within high school are not considered transfer students.
Students and their families are welcome to engage with Macalester Admissions throughout the year! We encourage visitors to attend an Information Session followed by a student-led tour. These are offered Monday–Friday year-round and on Saturday mornings during the fall semester. Admissions interviews at Macalester are recommended for domestic applicants, but are not required. Due to capacity limitations, Macalester cannot accommodate requests for interviews from international applicants. Ways to explore campus and learn more about the Mac community can be found at macalester.edu/about/visit/.
I gravitate towards living in communities that look a little like Mac–diverse and daring, globally concerned, folks from across the globe.
