First-year

First-year applicants can apply to: College of Arts & Sciences, School of Architecture, School of Engineering, School of Nursing, and the Kinesiology Program in the School of Education. UVA values intellectual ability, academic achievement, and personal qualities that will contribute to the University community in the application review. Founded as a public university with the intention of educating Virginians, two-thirds of the undergraduate students at UVA have Virginia domicile. We do not have quotas from specific schools, towns, counties, or regions.

Transfer

UVA welcomes transfer applications to all schools and colleges within the University. Applicants who have completed at least one full year (at least 24 semester hours after high school graduation) of college study before entering the University are considered most competitive by the Committee on Admission. Summer is not considered part of this minimum. Transfer students who enroll at UVA must spend at least two full years in residency at the University.
