Juniata is a highly challenging and inclusive community that encourages students to reach beyond their potential. The Program of Emphasis, our distinctive academic approach to the traditional "major/minor system," encourages students to design their own plan of study or choose a designated plan, under the guidance of two academic advisers.
The College has a strong reputation for excellent academics, personal attention, and state-of-the-art technological resources. Juniata students enjoy small classes, a challenging, flexible curriculum, collaborative student-faculty relationships, countless chances to learn by doing, and a lively campus offering lots to do and great new friends.

Application information

Find out about requirements, fees, and deadlines

First-year

Students may apply to Juniata using the Common Application any time after completion of their junior year in secondary school. The Office of Admission reviews student applications holistically. We consider a student’s high school transcript, Common Application essay, recommendation letters, standardized test scores (if provided, we are a test-optional school), interactions with the College, and student engagement both inside and outside the school community. There is no application fee, and students are encouraged to apply early in the fall of their senior year to be considered for available merit scholarships.

Transfer

Applicants are considered transfer students if they have graduated from an approved secondary school program and completed the equivalent of one full-time semester of coursework at a regionally accredited community college, junior college, or four-year institution. The Office of Admission reviews student applications holistically. A transfer application consists of the application itself, final high school transcript, standardized test scores if provided, and college transcript(s).
